Part 1 is here!
Now we’re getting to the difficult part, I’m good at losing to Chaos Daemons but I don’t know their codex very well (or at least not until today). What’s curious about Daemons compared to Orks and Space Wolves is that you don’t have any special characters that can take something unusual as troops, which means that you have to take normal troops and there’s only a three point difference between the most and least expensive troops, not counting upgrades. They also have fewer options than Grey Hunters and Blood Claws, so you’re far more restricted how you build them. However Daemon Princes have rafts of options. The two lists are quite different. The minimal model list has the only shooty troop choice, Pink Horrors, while the maximal list is full of Daemonettes.
HQ: Ku’gath the Plaguefather (300 pts)
Troops: 5 x Pink Horrors (17pts)
Troops: 4 x Pink Horrors (17pts), 1 x Pink Horror + Chaos Icon (42 pts)
3 x Heavy Support: Daemon Prince + Daemonic flight + Iron Hide + Instrument of Chaos + Unholy Might + Mark of Tzeentch + Master of Sorcery + Soul Devourer + Bolt of Tzeetch + Breath of Chaos + Boon of Mutation (335 pts)
= 14 models
= 1500 points
Total cost: €150.75
Average cost per model: €10.77
Average cost per point: €0.10
HQ: Herald of Slaanesh (50pts)
4 x Troops: 20 x Daemonettes (14pts)
1 x Troops: 18 x Daemonettes (14pts)
1 x Troops: 4 x Daemonettes (14 pts), 1 x Daemonette + Instrument of Chaos (19 pts)
= 104 models
= 1497 points
Total cost: €236.60
Average cost per model: €2.28
Average cost per point: €0.16
I suppose that this shows some of the restrictions with the Daemon codex. However, I’d say that both these lists are more playable than the two Space Wolves lists (if only a little). Next up are the Orks but I’m going to leave those, and the analysis, until tomorrow. I hope that you haven’t been too bored (there’ll be graphs next time and analysis and stuff). If I’ve got anything wrong, please say. Remember that these lists aren’t meant to be good, just extreme.
